Acquired by Leeds Museums and Galleries, 2022:
Carding Engine 2019
Free motion embroidery on handmade felt 100 x 57 cm
Carding Engine was inspired by the massive carding engine at Leeds Industrial Museum which was used to comb woollen fleece in preparation for spinning. The piece explores the sets of toothed rollers through a stitched line drawing in black and silver thread on a background of white silk and black wool. Whisps of white wool invoke the process and belie the heavy, relentless mechanism, one of the most dangerous in the textile industry.

Acquired by the Art House Wakefield, 2021:
The Art House: 10km of stitch 2020-21
Free-motion embroidery and ink on calico 6 x 1.35 metres
The Art House: 10km of stitch was designed and stitched during 2020/2021 when the Covid pandemic restricted activities and gave a new elasticity to time. The work celebrates not only the detail of this quirky and much-loved building but also the community of artists, designers and makers and all who work within its walls.
